Billie K. Smith, age 86, of Albany, Kentucky passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Clinton County Care & Rehab Center. The Clinton County native was the son of the late Oplis and Norine Smith. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Luther and Ocia Dalton. Billie K. is survived by his wife of 65 years Geneva Smith, one son, Rickey K. Smith (Connie) of Bowling Green, KY and one daughter, Kathy Lee (Phillip) of Albany, four grandchildren, Melanie Wyatt (Jeremy) of Bowling Green, Daniel Latham (Kelli), Jarrod Latham (Amber), and Halen Lee (Khiara), all of Albany, one step-grandson, Blake Lee (Chelsie), four great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Lillie Wyatt of Bowling Green, Ryder Latham and Rowan Lee of Albany and one step-great-grandson, Tripp Strunk. Billie K. was a member of Concord Church and the Beech Bottom Masonic Lodge. After graduating from Clinton Co. High School in 1957, Billie K. attended Western Kentucky University for one year before marrying Geneva Dalton, the love of his life on August 2, 1958 in Albany, KY at the home farm and his birthplace.
Billie K. was a retired Tobacco & Cattle Farmer and worked 25 years as a Route Salesman for Southern Belle Dairy. In addition, he had 30 years in public service with 2 terms as Magistrate of the 2nd District and 22 years as a member of the Clinton County Board of Education. He was a big UK fan and a huge supporter of his children and grandchildren during their high school basketball playing days. He has a quiet nature, but that quickly changed if he thought the referees weren’t making the right calls. He shouted encouragement and we always knew he was there.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Tracy Cross, Lori Poindexter, The Medical Center at Albany Nursing Staff and Therapists for their exceptional and compassionate care, Amedisys Home Health for their excellent care over the past few years, and most recently, Clinton County Care & Rehab Center and Dr. Carol Peddicord for their loving care. Finally, we would like to thank Mom (Geneva) for the amazing care and the sacrificial love she has shown Dad and for demonstrating true love as a wonderful wife and mother.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Concord Church Building Fund, 64 Norman Smith Road, Albany, KY 42602 or to Med Center Health Foundation, 800 Park Street, Bowling Green, KY 42101.
