Larry Eugene Thrasher, 68, died peacefully, August 9, 2020, with his loving family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. For thirty-five years he was the beloved husband of Karen Thrasher. He was the proud father of Julia Dennis (Will), Billy Hayes (April) and Christi Henderson (Chad) of Somerset, Ky. He was a loving Papa to 7 grandchildren; Chloe, Raegan, Ross, Allyson, Anabel, Colsen, and Crosby Laine.
He was the son of The late Charlie Orval Thrasher and The late Hattie Lena Thrasher. He was born June 8, 1952 in Newcastle, Indiana and was raised and educated in Albany, Ky.
Although he rarely discussed it, He served his country in the Vietnam war receiving numerous accolades including a bronze star for his heroism. His work ethic was unprecedented leading him to become a successful businessman/restaurant owner. Grateful for all he had accomplished, he remained humble by continuously giving to his community and those in need.
Larry was an avid adventurer, loved boating on lake Cumberland, motorcycle trips to South Dakota, or a spontaneous getaway to Aruba, He lived life to the fullest.
He had a coy sense of humor, expected a firm handshake, and was a genuine conversationalist. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Karen and his children, he is survived by his sister, Charlene Shelley and Jerry Wayne Shelley of Corydon; his father-in-law, Wallace Hancock of Somerset; his sister-in-law, Gail Geise and her husband Jim of Cincinnati; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to personally thank Steve Talbott- a childhood friend-and Talbott Funeral Home for their excellent care.
Family and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Talbott Funeral Home, 1106 North Cross ST. Albany, Ky from 10am to 1pm (CENTRAL TIME) with the service for family only immediately following.
A graveside service for all will be held at the Mcwhorter Hillcrest Cemetary in Albany, Ky.
